One of the biggest stories surrounding the Toronto Maple Leafs going back to last season is, what should the Leafs do with upcoming UFA, James van Riemsdyk.

Does he want to stay in Toronto? Will the Leafs flip him for a top four defenseman?

JVR has been a soldier for the Leafs through tough times, and now he's all smiles as he enjoys the Leafs rebuild coming to fruition.

However the clock is ticking, and if he's not willing to sign a team friendly deal, it's probably time to move him.

Luckily for Leafs fans, it looks like he's willing to sign that team friendly deal as long as the term is JVR friendly.

According to Pierre LeBrun during his latest appearance on TSN Insider Trading, LeBrun states that he's heard from some sources that JVR is looking to sign an eight year deal similar to that of T.J. Oshie's with the Washington Capitals. Oshie signed an eight year deal worth $5.75million a season this summer.

LeBrun said that despite there not being any serious contract talks, it's clear that JVR wants to stay in Toronto.
