The Toronto Maple Leafs and head coach Sheldon Keefe got some tough news on Thursday.

After getting things rolling again and looking healthy, forward Auston Matthews is injured.

Keefe confirmed with reporters that he won't play in tonight's big game against the Winnipeg Jets.

It's a pretty big blow for the Leafs in a very important matchup.

As of now it looks like John Tavares will step in on the first line.

Keefe wouldn't give out any more details besides the fact that Matthews is now labeled as "day to day".
