The Toronto Maple Leafs have received some tough news to start the season.

We already learned that superstar Auston Matthews will miss at least the first three games of the season and possibly more.

Now the Leafs will be down another forward.

Head coach Sheldon Keefe revealed to reporters that forward Ilya Mikheyev will be out a minimum 8 weeks after having thumb surgery.

It's a tough blow for Mikheyev who had requested a trade during the offseason and general manager Kyle Dubas was expecting big things from him after refusing to trade him.
