With Mitch Marner signed, everything looked trending up for the Toronto Maple Leafs.
However we've got our first bit of bad news out of Leafs' camp.
Kristen Shilton reports that goalie Michal Neuvirth is sidelined due to an undisclosed injury.
“He wasn’t feeling good body-wise [on Sunday], and we kept him off today,” head coach Mike Babcock said after the Leafs’ practices at Mile One Centre on Monday. “Obviously it’s not ideal for him. If he wants to battle for a job, he’s got to be in a position to do that. But he’s also got to be healthy.”
Neuvirth was supposed to fight Michael Hutchinson for the backup job.
Unfortunately for Neuvirth it's not a good sign as he's battled injury problems throughout his whole career.
Michal Neuvirth was supposed to challenge Michael Hutchinson for the #Leafs backup job this season, but early in training camp he's been sidelined with an injury, and clouded the backup goalie picture: https://t.co/wcKdOw1XtN
