There's lots of moves expected by the Toronto Maple Leafs over the next couple of weeks.
One of them is the eventual trade of defenseman Nikita Zaitsev.
The 27 year old has requested a trade out of Toronto, even though he seemed to get things going with defenseman Jake Muzzin, it seems Zaitsev has had enough of the Toronto media and wants out.
One of the teams that's been heavily attached to Zaitsev is the Vancouver Cancuks.
We've heard that Vancouver is showing strong interest in Zaitsev is Vancouver who definitely need some help on the blueline and have the cap space to take on a contract.
NHL insider Darren Dreger was asked about the situation on TSN1050.
Dreger confirmed that Zaitsev is drawing strong interest around the league including from the Canucks. However with Brock Boeser and Alexander Edler needing to be signed, Zaitsev only sits about 3rd or 4th on the priority list.
Dreger added that he doesn't expect a trade to happen until after the draft.
Dreger on TSN1050 says Zaitsev has interest around the league but nothing imminent. Zaitsev is likely 3rd/4th on Vancouver's list of priorities. Trade not likely to happen until the draft. #TMLTalk #LeafsForever #Canucks
