We've heard it all regarding the Toronto Maple Leafs and Mitch Marner over the last couple of weeks.
Offer sheets, trades, Auston Matthews type money, Marner's dad controlling the situation, you name it we've heard at least one story about it.
As per usual, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman has thrown his hat in the mix regarding Marner chatter this time predicting what Marner's contract will likely be, at least in the numbers range.
While chatting with Bob McCown on air, Friedman mentioned he believes that the Leafs will offer Marner an eight year deal and it's the only way Marner will get big money.
He tried not to commit to a dollar amount but McCown poached it out of him and it'll likely be in the $88million range over eight years.
That would put Marner in the price range he was hoping for at $11million a year.
Would you be willing to sign Marner to that type of contract?
Friedman says he believes the Leafs will offer Marner an 8-year deal, says if he wants the big AAV number it has to be for 8 yrs, not 5. McCown interjects and asks if it will be 8 years for $88M? Friedman says in that vicinity.
