Earlier this week William Nylander made a lot of noise when he decided to change the number on his jersey.

Usually not too many people would care, however Nylander decided to chose a number that's pretty much attached to one specific player.

Even though he came to Toronto on the downside of his career, #88 is still attached to Eric Lindros.

Lindros registered 11 goals in 33 games for the Leafs during his brief stint.

Patrick Kane, Brent Burns and David Pastrnak have all claimed the number since however nobody has done it in Toronto.

After some fans knocked on Nylander for choosing it, Lindros took to Twitter to send a message to the Leafs' young forward.

"Wishing @wmnylander a great season in #88 with the @MapleLeafs!"

Looks like Lindros has no problem with it at all!
