Everything seemed ready to go.
Multiple reports had the Leafs extremely close on a deal with William Nylander and it was just a matter of time before it was official.
Head coach Mike Babcock has been hinting all week that Nylander will be back, however it looks like it's all fallen apart.
Insider Pierre LeBrun reports that the Leafs' main priority is to still sign Nylander however negotiations have become stagnant and the team will start looking at trades again.
LeBrun even states that Toronto has let teams know to put their best offers forward with only a couple of days left.
This should be a very interesting next couple of days.
The Maple Leafs' priority/hope is still to re-sign William Nylander but my understanding with that with just two days to go to the signing deadline, Toronto has circled back to some teams suggesting they put their best foot forward on trade offers... which makes sense
