There's lots of question marks surrounding the Toronto Maple Leafs after another disappointing first round exit from the Stanley Cup playoffs.
Questions have been asked about general manager Kyle Dubas' deadline work and questions have been asked about Mike Babcock's coaching decisions.
Will both of them be back next year? Probably.
Is it solidified in stone? No.
Dubas was asked about Babcock's future during the year end press conference and worked himself out of a direct answer and never guaranteed Babcock's job security.
Now Sportsnet's John Shannon reveals that Dubas has permission and the authority to fire Babcock without needing the board's approval.
We all know that Babcock was Brendan Shanahan and Lou Lamoriello's guy, while Dubas is closer to Marlies coach Sheldon Keefe.
Do you think Dubas will consider firing Babcock?
To clarify a discussion yesterday on PTS, Multiple sources have confirmed that Kyle Dubas has the authority as GM to dismiss Mike Babcock. He does not need board approval.
